Jeopardy

We are currently without a Beehive counselor in Young Women. The advisor is taking 2 summer school classes and finals are next week so I am executing the activity. (I am the young women secretary, by the way.) I am super excited. They wanted to do Jeopardy. A couple of years ago I made a version of Battle of the Sexes to use for an activity with the boys, so I was ready. They chose 6 categories, but I changed them a bit. The categories are: Book of Mormon, Church History, Latter Days, Temples, [Our] Ward and Young Women. 


My children saw me making the board and questions. They asked if they could play. So, I pulled out [Our] Ward and Young Women questions and added Our Family and Extended family questions in their place. (Luke's color and Bella was born here among others.) We played it for FHE. Andy and Luke vs. Marcus and Anneke. Marcus and Anneke won because of their wager on the Final Jeopardy question. It was a lot of fun and now I am coming up with a version to play with our neighbors at the request of our children. The categories are: Animals, Primary Songs, Harry Potter, Books, In the Pink (encompasses girly stuff), and Pixar movies. I'll let you know who wins and how my activity goes next week.


P.S. We just found out our old landlord passed away this morning. He went a lot sooner than expected. He was such a blessing to us and we are grateful for his trust and love.

Let's Risk it

A few weeks ago we started a new chore idea that I found in Family Fun magazine. Basically everyone earns points according to the things they do ranging from 1-3. Then, when their jar is full they get to choose a prize. Nothing huge, really. Some ideas are dinner out with mom or dad, a friend to sleep over, a movie, etc. Marcus knew what he wanted. He wanted a night with just Mom and Dad so he could play games, specifically Risk. So, after he filled his jar for the first time we popped popcorn made milkshakes and started in on world conquest.

Marcus started out doing VERY well. (It as Andy's idea to do the hats.)

Marcus plays the game a lot like his dad does. Which means I was the most cautious player. Like father like son, I guess.
When it was too late to continue we quit. I had control of Europe and North America, Andy had Africa and South America, Marcus had Asia and Australia. I guess we all tied.
Anneke is doing a movie with Mom and Dad at home to cash in her rewards. Their next goal is to earn a session at Build-a-Bear because they have never done it before. (Luke doesn't earn points as fast and I am not sure he really gets to concept, anyway.)

Ideas

So, the Beehives are in charge of the joint boy and girl activity in two weeks. They thought doing a Mormon version of Battle of the Sexes would be fun. However, that means that as leaders we are coming up with the questions and stuff. We have a little time, but I am having an easier time coming up with Wild cards. Example:

Female - Find a modest prom dress. Move ahead 2 spaces.

Male - Go to 7-11 instead of Priesthood. Go back 3 spaces.

I don't want to make the questions too hard, but I don't want to underestimate the youth either. Hmmm...Any suggestions?
